Beam Expander

Beam expander is a kind of optical system composed of two or more elements, it can adjust the size of laser beam and its divergent characteristics. Laser beam expander has a variety of functions: first, to extension of beam, then the focus to get smaller focus. CO2 laser beam expander can improve beam collimation characteristics. It can also be used to reduce the diameter of the beam in acousto-optic or electro-optic modulator. The space filter and beam expander, can lead the asymmetric light energy distribution to be symmetric, and make it more even.

 

Beam Expander - CO2 Laser 9.4/10.6 um

The most common beam expander is derived from Galilean telescope which usually has one negative input lens and one positive output lens. The input lens presents a virtual beam focus at the output. For low expansion ratio, the Galilean telescope is most often employed due to simplicity, small package size and low cost. Beam expander is commonly used to magnify the laser diameter to be focused back in smaller spot size.

 

CO2 Beam Expander - Adjustable Series

    This series of beam expander has advantage as the internal lenses will only move along the optical axis without rotation. Adjustable ring with scales make it more convenient for user’s operation. It has common connecting thread of M24x0.5, M33x0.5, M16x0.75, M22x0.75, M30x1.
